Japanese Family Dining in Ubon — Ordering for Every Age

Planning a Japanese meal for a family or group where not everyone eats raw fish.

A Thai family table usually includes children who will not eat raw fish, adults who want something hot, and someone who cannot take chilli. Japanese food handles this better than people expect — if you order in groups.

Order in four groups

  1. Shared centre dishes — sushi sets, assorted sashimi, mixed tempura.
  2. Hot mains for adults — ramen, picanha steak, salt-grilled hamachi kama.
  3. Safe choices for children — katsu don, pork niku don, fried gyoza, karaage, fries.
  4. Something while you wait — edamame, seaweed salad, fried shishamo.

Rough budget per person

  • Table of four — around ฿350–500 each
  • Table of six to eight with a large sushi set — around ฿500–700 each
  • Celebration dinner — around ฿800–1,000 each with foie gras, the YUSUNSEN sashimi platter and steak

How much to order

One shared dish per two people, one main per person, plus two or three snacks for the table. Count small children as half a person for mains.

If someone eats nothing raw

More than thirty dishes contain no raw fish at all — ramen, curry, tonkatsu, fried rice, and Thai–Isan plates such as grilled pork with jaew and tom yum goong.

Booking for groups

For six or more, or for a garden-side table, let us know at least a day ahead by Messenger or phone so we can set the table and prepare accordingly.

An idea — some families book the onsen for the grown-ups in the afternoon and everyone meets for dinner afterwards. A half-day out without moving the car.
